Error Larch installation
Dear Matt and members of the XAFS community. I'm trying to install Larch and after the installation process, I'm not able to run the program. It doesn't open. I am trying the Binary Installer File for Windows (64 bit). The error I get when running Larch GUI can be seen in the attachment. Am I doing something wrong? [image: image.png] Thank you in advance. Hi Christian, I have not seen that error before. Is that happening during installation, after installing, and when trying to run one of the programs? It looks like it is *after* installation. I don't think I've seen the installer put programs in C:\programdata, but maybe there's some Windows environment variable that sets that. Do you know if that is the case? Like, was Larch installed from an Administrator account? It looks like the problem is that you do not have permission to write to a Temp folder "C:\Users\Asus\AppData\Local\Temp". Can you verify if you have permission for that? Could it be that some other user account was used to install or is running the application? Hi Matt. Yes, you're right, it is after installing Larch. I tried running the program "as administrator" and it seems it worked out. :) Thank you for the help! Kind regards, Em ter., 17 de mai. de 2022 às 09:19, Matt Newville < newville@cars.uchicago.edu> escreveu:

Hi Christian, OK, that's good that you got it working. But I would suggest re-installing as a non-Administrator account so that you don't have to run as Administrator. That is, installing and running as a non-Administrator user is the goal, and works for lots of people. For sure, it can be challenging for some people (especially working for government labs, it seems) to be able to install software, and so Larch (and, thankfully, Anaconda Python) try hard to be able to install and run completely as a non-privileged user.
