Good afternoon, I was hoping to get some help accessing the XRFMap viewer on my computer. I downloaded Larch for Windows from the binary installer and was able to get the folder with all the software onto my computer. However, when I try to open the XRFMap viewer the only thing that pops up is a terminal with a error message. [image: Screenshot 2025-01-10 121622.png] Then it closes and nothing happens. Would y'all happen to know what's going on and how I can fix it? I am trying to fix up the maps I have collected from NSLS-II. Thank you! Hi India,
Sorry for the trouble. We saw this too and it is now fixed in the latest version.
It looks like the installation worked well enough that the “Update Larch” shortcut in the Larch desktop folder should run without having to re-install everything.
I just updated the installers, but I bet you don’t need to do a full re-install, and the updater should be much faster.
I think this should work (Mapviewer runs for me!), but let me know if you have any troubles.

Thank you so much for your help Mr. Newville,
I can see it is updated but now it wont download onto my computer. I
decided to reinstall the program since I was having issues with the other
version but every time I try to install the newest updated version of the
binary installer for windows it always stops on the same screen before the
download is complete. I have tried to install it a few times and I have not
been able to get past this part, i've left it alone for a while as well but
nothing seems to be happening. The sc of the stopped terminal is linked
below. Thank you so much for your help, and I feel bad to keep bugging you
but is there something I'm missing? I do have Python and Matlab installed
and I was prompted to uninstall python at one point, maybe the programs are
butting heads? I'm happy to follow any other instructions you have. Thank
you!
Best,

Hi India, Hm, that screenshot looks like it got to nearly the last step of the install. Are you sure that it actually failed? It can take some time.... maybe try hitting return in the Command window? Or, is there some pop-up about permissions? FWIW, the installer is supposed to not interfere with or be bothered by other Python installations. I can say that I have installed using the installer on three different Windows machines, but I also understand that there can be a lot of variability, especially with permissions.
