I think your comment is wise and applicable to other plotting 
softwares incl. EXCEL : we use instead KaleidaGraph to plot these 
*.dat files and the same improvment (replacing any delimiter 
character, incl. spaces, commas or TAB's) by other characters (say 
underscores) would greatly help importing... and manipulating FEFF 
data....
