Call for Abstracts – AGU 2025 Fall Meeting Session P048: Unveiling the Atmosphere–Interior Connection in Planets: Integrating Observations, Simulations, and Experiments

Dear SEES Colleagues, We warmly invite you to submit an abstract to our AGU 2025 Fall Meeting session, P048 – Unveiling the Atmosphere–Interior Connection in Planets: Integrating Observations, Simulations, and Experiments, to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, from 15–19 December 2025. Conveners - Taehyun Kim, Arizona State University (Primary) - Luis Welbanks, Arizona State University - Hilke Schlichting, UCLA - Aster Taylor, University of Michigan Confirmed Invited Speakers - Edward D. Young, UCLA - Matthew C. Nixon, University of Maryland TBD: A third speaker (expected to be an experimentalist) Session Description: https://agu.confex.com/agu/agu25/prelim.cgi/Session/252476 This session aims to bring together insights from telescopic observations, laboratory experiments, and modeling—from high-pressure physics to spectroscopic analysis and thermal evolution. For the SEES community, we would especially love to highlight your fascinating experimental and computational work on: 1) Simple and complex phase diagrams relevant to atmospheres and atmosphere–core boundaries (e.g., H2–H2O, silicates–H2O, or silicates–H2 systems), 2) Chemical processes linking deep planetary interiors and exoplanetary atmospheres, and 3) Computational simulations addressing the evolution of atmospheres, cores, and their complex interfaces. In addition to these themes, we welcome submissions on any related research that helps advance a holistic understanding of planetary structures across diverse worlds. We look forward to receiving your contributions and encourage you to share your exciting experimental work with the planetary science and observational astronomy communities to broaden and enhance our collective knowledge, showcasing the impactful research coming out of the SEES community. Deadline for submission: 30 July 2025 at 23.59 EDT On behalf of the conveners, Best regards, Taehyun Kim
