These transitions—governed by variations in pressure, temperature, and composition—can influence large-scale mantle convection, promote thermal and chemical stratification, and produce seismic discontinuities. However, understanding the dynamic impacts of mineral transitions remains challenging due to uncertainties in phase boundaries, the role of water and volatiles, variations in mineral assemblages, and their effects on physical properties such as rheology and thermal conductivity.
