Hi folks,
Just a quick reminder that new proposals AND beamtime requests (BTRs) for existing NSLS-II proposals are due 31-Jan (before midnight).
Also note that we will host the NEXT-III Beamline Concepts Webinar on 29-Jan (see below for details).
Cheers,

Subject: NEXT-III Beamline Concepts Webinar
Dear Members of the NSLS-II User Community,
We are excited to invite you to learn about the next generation of beamlines proposed for NSLS-II as part of the NSLS-II Experimental Tools III (NEXT-III) Project<https://urldefense.us/v3/__https://www.bnl.gov/nsls2/beamline-development.ph... > — a major DOE-funded initiative that will shape the facility’s scientific capabilities for the coming decade. NEXT-III will deliver 8–12 new beamlines and supporting infrastructure, rolled out in phases with 2–3 beamlines launched every 1–2 years, enabling transformative science across diverse disciplines.
To identify candidate beamlines for the next phase, NSLS-II held ten Scientific Strategic Planning Workshops<https://urldefense.us/v3/__https://www.bnl.gov/spworkshops/__;!!G_uCfscf7eWS... > in the fall of 2025 and many of you participated! We subsequently issued a call for one-page pre-proposals in December 2025 and ten were selected to advance to the full proposal stage.
To share these exciting ideas with the user community, we will be hosting a NEXT-III Beamline Concepts Webinar:
Thursday, January 29, 2026
1:00 – 3:00 PM (ET)
Join via Zoom: https://urldefense.us/v3/__https://bnl.zoomgov.com/s/1614781339__;!!G_uCfscf...
This webinar is a unique opportunity to hear directly about the proposed beamlines and engage early in shaping the future capabilities of NSLS-II. The beamline selection process will follow the model used for the first two phases of NEXT-III (2022–2023). Full proposals will be reviewed by external panels and prioritized by the NSLS-II Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC), with final decisions made by NSLS-II leadership in consultation with the DOE.
We hope that you will join us for this exciting discussion and thank you for your continued engagement and contributions to NSLS-II!
Sincerely,
Elke Arenholz
