Dear colleagues, We are excited to announce that the 3rd High-Pressure Single-Crystal X-Ray Diffraction Summer School will take place at Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany, from Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 8, 2025. This five-day event offers an intensive introduction to modern high-pressure single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques (SCXRD), targeting early-career researchers (MSc/PhD students, postdocs) as well as established scientists working in the high-pressure field. Halbouty ’30 Postdoctoral Fellowship in Geology and Geophysics. Candidates should have a PhD in Geology, Geophysics or related field by the time of this appointment, be within 5 years of their PhD and have not held a permanent or tenured faculty position. Postdoctoral Fellows will be based at the Texas A&M (TAMU) College Station campus and they will engage with department faculty and students in research. The successful applicant will receive a one-year appointment as the Halbouty Postdoctoral Fellow, with reappointment for a second year, contingent upon research productivity and excellence. The Halbouty Postdoctoral Fellow will receive a stipend of $65,000/yr plus benefits for up to two years, and $6500/yr for research and/or travel expenses during the same two years of their postdoc. Additional research funding may be provided by a postdoctoral advisor or other departmental sources. This appointment includes the opportunity to work across departments and programs in the College of Arts and Sciences and the broader university. The Halbouty Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for conducting field, laboratory, and/or computer modeling studies to address research questions in the Geological and/or Geophysical Sciences. The Postdoctoral Fellow will organize, analyze, and synthesize data and will write manuscripts and grant applications independently and cooperatively with Texas A&M faculty, staff and students. Dear Colleagues, We’re excited to announce that the Workshop on High-Pressure Mineral Physics and Magmatic Petrology will continue in 2025. This workshop is designed for Master’s and Ph.D. students and will provide introductory lectures on key topics in Earth sciences. It will be complemented by hands-on training in high-pressure experimental techniques, including piston-cylinder, multi-anvil, and diamond-anvil cell methods, as well as melt inclusion analysis. Additionally, a dedicated session will cover synchrotron techniques. Workshop Details: Location: Laboratoire Magmas et Volcans, Clermont-Ferrand, France Dates: November 3– 7, 2025 Cost: Participation is free of charge. Includes travel within mainland Europe, accommodation, breakfast, and lunch. (Please note that international airfare is not covered) Application Process: Participation is limited to 15 students, with selection based on the relevance of the applicant’s academic background. The deadline for applications is June 15 , 2025, though the call for applications will close once all positions are filled.
