David: I too see the 1 second flicker but the resultant fonts are quite readable. If you want to compare installed package off-list, just let me know. Carlo On Wed, 22 Feb 2006, Dave Baker wrote:
Bruce, I'm running the following environment on Debian:
Artemis 0.8.005 using linux, perl 5.008007, Tk 804.027, and Ifeffit 1.2.8 When I open up any help/about documents from within Artemis or Athena I am faced with a nearly unreadable font. Strangely, the font is readable for a short while (~1 second) before it switches to this other font. I've attached a screenshot. I'm curious to know if anyone else experiences this problem, and whether it's just a matter of installing the correct fonts on my machine or if it's something less obvious.

Dave, The flicker thing is the intended behavior. The default font size used by the pod reader is much too small on all of my computers, so I automagically zoom in on the font. Apparently there is something about the way fonts are set up on your machine that results in an illegible final choice for the fonts. Go to Settings -> Edit preferences, then General -> doc_zoom and make the value either bigger or smaller. A value of 0 should certainly be ok, altough on my computer it's rather too small. Bruce: Nice to know. David and I are trying to figure out the font problem on his computer. I plan to fix dependencies in my packages when I know what is necessary. Carlo On Wed, 22 Feb 2006, Bruce Ravel wrote:
