Talking of websites does anyone know what happened to the International XAFS website? I can't access it. And what is going on with this organization? Thanks. Simon
And where is its treasurer? :) Anatoly

Hi All,
The millenia server for the ifeffit pages, WebAtoms, and XAFS.ORG is now
back to being visible to the world. Please let me know if there are any
problems. We should definitely try to track down the issue of WebAtoms
not handling data with more that 50 sites. Matthew's CIF file should be
helpful for tracking that down. If anyone figures it out, please let me
know!
The IXAS website is a separate disaster, but one that I am at least partly
to blame, as chair of the IXAS. Basically the ixasportal.net domain was
held by Hiroyuki Oyanagi who sadly past away almost a year ago now. The
domain registration was only valid through August, 2019 and the domain went
down then. I have all of (or perhaps "most of") the web data from that
domain from the webmaster, but getting the domain itself back seems either
impossible or perhaps "very expensive".
My plan / hope is to bring up a new site using WordPress with the idea that
this will be editable by more than a couple people (but with authentication
and modern web tools). I have the start of a site, but it is not quite
ready for beta testing. My intention is to send this to the IXAS
Executive Committee (Hi Simon!) very soon (like, mid February) and then
announce here and other places. I would like to move the content from
XAFS.ORG there as well -- I think this is possible. There are more
plans, including an on-line spectral database.
I will also be hoping / planning that more people (like everyone in this
thread) might be willing to participate in these efforts at least to some
extent (either editing or reviewing or making suggestions for these web
pages) once they are actually up and the Executive Committee has had a
chance to way in on this. I'll keep you all posted, but it is completely
fair to be poking me about this on a regular basis.
