Some of our papers explain how to avoid k-weighting and use the actual measured uncertainties to define a fit.
Other papers by our group explain that a proper k-weighting would scale the value and the uncertainty by the same amount, so that the net fit should be unaffected.
Otherwise this is more like a change of the effective k-range over the fit.
