edge height proportional to the molar density?
I am wondering whether the edge height could be used to estimate molar density or not. If so, is there any reference about such kind of calculation? Thanks! Haiyan
Hi Haiyan, Yes, relative concentrations for different elements within the same sample can be estimated from edge jumps. Be sure to normalize by the difference in absorption coefficient for each edge--you can get those figures from Hephaestus, among other places. This method won't be as accurate as techniques like ICP or XRF, largely because it's hard to normalize XAS spectra consistently between different edges. But you can easily do better than 20% accuracy. --Scott Calvin Sarah Lawrence College On Jul 24, 2009, at 5:16 PM, Haiyan Zhao wrote:

Look for the papers by Irit Sagi. We have done just these types of measurements of edge height to estimate molar density in metal proteins. It works for fluorescence as long as the concentration of absorber is low and the geometry of the experiment does not change between the samples. Hi Haiyan, try to find in internet small program (it is for free) called XAFSmass witten by Kostantin Klementiev, it should help you. darek -----Wiadomość oryginalna----- Od: ifeffit-bounces@millenia.cars.aps.anl.gov w imieniu Haiyan Zhao Wysłano: Pt 2009-07-24 23:16 Do: ifeffit@millenia.cars.aps.anl.gov Temat: [Ifeffit] edge height proportional to the molar density?
