Farrel Lytle IXAS XAFS database data energy calibration
Dear List Members, I need some nickel reference spectra, and I thought to use the Farrel Lytle IXAS XAFS database. I have found some proper ones, e.g.: http://ixs.csrri.iit.edu/data/Farrel_Lytle_data/RAW/Ni/nifl.090 and http://ixs.csrri.iit.edu/data/Farrel_Lytle_data/RAW/Ni/nicl.047 , but it is not clear from the files how these spectra are energy calibrated. Can somebody help and give some detailed information about it for me? Thank you for your help in advance. Best Regards, Eva Bajnoczi
Eva, To the best of my knowledge, very little is known of the provenance of those data. B On 04/26/2016 06:05 AM, bajnoczi wrote:

Hi Eva: Bruce is correct but I have been able to reconstruct the calibrations on some of the data sets and I have a program which can convert them. I will be happy to share it privately if you want it. However, I think it would be better to find some data from a more modern beamline as a standard. Carlo On Tue, 26 Apr 2016, Bruce Ravel wrote:

Hello Ifeffit users, We in the biomimetic community are having a heated discussion about the XAS (pre-edge and edge) data of Co(IV)=O molecular complexes. Turns out that there are very few bonafide complexes that can be used as a standard for Co(IV) and they are rather difficult to obtain. I would like to turn to the materials/geological community here and request the XANES data for CoO2, which is an unstable Co(IV)oxide mineral. I am hoping someone might have collected these data sets. If you have other opinion or thoughts on Co(IV) XANES in general, I would be thankful if you can spare the time to share it with me. Thank you for your assistance, Best Wishes, -Riti Sarangi
