Hi folks, I just released the source code tarball for the latest version of my software. Those of you who use the source can run the horae_update script now. Or, you can grab the new version of the horae_update script from here and try it: http://leonardo.phys.washington.edu/~ravel/software/exafs/utilities/horae_up... The new version allows connection to a local proxy and grabs the tarball from SourceForge. Type "horae_update -h" for help on using the new features. This new version of horae_update is included in the tarball. This release is purely a bug fix release, mostly for Artemis. It addresses all the outstanding issues brought to my attention over the last week, including the problems related to the Mac OSX package. A windows executable will be made next week. Thanks to all the folks who provided bug reports for this release, including Shelly Kelly, Stefano Ciurli, Gleb Pokrovsky, and Peter Southon. The new updater seems to work - but for one hitch. The tarball it downloads is not a tarball source. It seems to contain html code (and some javascript)... Paul On May 29, 2004, at 8:30 AM, Bruce Ravel wrote:

The version of the tarball that can be downloaded manually on sourceforge works fine. I downloaded this tarball and manually uncompressed and installed it. The problem with atoms.inp is fixed! Paul On May 29, 2004, at 6:51 PM, Paul Fons wrote:

It seems to contain html code (and PF> some javascript)... It seems there are still some details of working with SourceForge that I have to figure out. The problem appears to be with the Aleron mirror, which is, unfortunately, the default. For some reason, today that mirror is not responding. When you try to download something from that mirror, you instead get the page that asks you to choose a (presumably different) mirror. Doing horae-update --mirror=heanet works fine because the mirror in Dublin is responding normally. So clearly the script need to check the file that gets returned. If it is the mirror selection HTML page, then the script should start rotating through the other mirror options until it find one that responds. If none of them are responding, then it should fetch from my web site. I'll put that on the list of things to do. Until then, try using the --mirror argument when that problem happens. Hi Paul,
I am sure that Matt will make a new installer before long. The new version of the source code is at: https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=80919 if you would like to download it. If you have the compiler installed the installation sequence is fairly simple
gtar zxf horae-035.tgz cd horae-035 perl Makefile.PL make sudo make install (you will have to type your password when prompted to complete the installation)
everything worked perfectly! Tomorrow I will start testing the program for what I can do. Thanks a lot to Bruce for his successful effort in helping us Mac users, and to you for the hints. But there are two nice advantages of having the updater point at SourceForge. One is that geographical closeness will be useful for some users. The other is that SF kindly tracks download statistics. So, I plan to continue putting the tarballs on my web site. That said, I see that I cleverly updated the web page but did not upload the tarball. Me not so smart, sometimes!
