saving a window function in Athena/Artemis
Hi! Could anyone tell me whether it is possible to save a specific window function together with the data in either Athena or Artemis? Another general question: how can I easily search for specific key words in the archive folders of the mailing list (without going through them individually)? Thanks & happy new year to you all! Another general question: how can I easily search for specific key words in the archive folders of the mailing list (without going through
Renske, them individually)? You can use GOOGLE for a site specific search. For example, enter: --- KEYWORD site:http://millenia.cars.aps.anl.gov/pipermail/ifeffit/ ---- into the Google search window and you will be able to search the Ifeffit archives for your keywords that you are interested in. Renske, Both programs already do that. In Athena, the File menu has options for saving data in k, R, or q. All of those files include a column with the window function. Window functions are not written out when saving marked groups to a single file. It's all explained here: http://cars9.uchicago.edu/~ravel/software/doc/Athena/html/output/column.html In Artemis, look in the Fit menu for "Save data + this fit". The final column in that file is the window function. Apparently, the window column is not saved by any of the options in the File menu. Fixing that is now on the to do list. HTH, B P.S. In response to Richard, computers behind the APS firewall have been flaky all week. This includes any of the APS web sites as well as beamline web sites, the ifeffit wiki, xafs.org, my web site, and (this one has been driving me crazy all week) the svn servers that host the repositories for all my software. Things have been worse in the mornings (morning in Chicago, that is) and slightly better in the afternoon. I saw email about firewall upgrade at APS last weekend. My guess is that they still are workingon the problem. -- Bruce Ravel ------------------------------------ bravel@bnl.gov National Institute of Standards and Technology Synchrotron Methods Group at NSLS --- Beamlines U7A, X24A, X23A2 Building 535A Upton NY, 11973 My homepage: http://xafs.org/BruceRavel EXAFS software: http://cars9.uchicago.edu/~ravel/software/exafs/

Not quite. The "Save data as..." submenu will write a column with the window. The "Save fit as ..." submenu does not. In any case, the one from the Fit menu is probably the most useful column output file and it has a window column. Hi, I wonder if I have to run many pure sulphur compounds (the standards) by myself for fitting my sample's spectrum. Is there a spectrum database for sulphur compounds, e.g., thiophene, sulphide, sulphate, disulphide, etc., so I can import the spectra to Athena to do the fitting? Thank you. Jenny
Jenny, Don't know how much help this will be, but check here: http://www.xafs.org/Databases HTH, Richard
