Re: [Ifeffit] Ifeffit Digest, Vol 54, Issue 21
Dear Caro, Thank you for your reply :) I followed your suggestion to double click or choose all text in the boxes, but still doesn't work. I installed the software in my two computers(both Ubuntu 7.04), but the symptoms are the same. Would you please tell me how to build deb package from source? Do you mean changing the values in the text boxes? Sometimes, I have noticed that you have to double click on the box or select all of the text in order to be able to change values using the keyboard. I haven't figured out when this happens though, it seems sort of random to me.

Instructions for building and installing from source (rather than via a deb package) are here: http://cars9.uchicago.edu/~ravel/software/downloads.html B -- Bruce Ravel ---------------------------------------------- bravel@anl.gov Molecular Environmental Science Group, Building 203, Room E-165 MRCAT, Sector 10, Advanced Photon Source, Building 433, Room B007 Argonne National Laboratory phone and voice mail: (1) 630 252 5033 Argonne IL 60439, USA fax: (1) 630 252 9793 My homepage: http://cars9.uchicago.edu/~ravel EXAFS software: http://cars9.uchicago.edu/~ravel/software/exafs/
Hi Jun: I will be getting my hands on an edgy box later this week and I will test it. If you want to build the package from source to see if it will work properly, follow the instructions that Bruce has posted but remember first to remove all the packages that are dependencies of horae, ifeffit and pgplot5. If you decide to do this, please let me know if it works. Cheers, Carlo On Fri, 31 Aug 2007, Jun Lin wrote:

Hi Jun, My suggestion would be to first check that Perl/Tk works correctly, say by running the demo program, which I think should be installed as /usr/bin/widget. That is, Athena/Artemis use a GUI toolkit that can be tested separately from the "meat" of Athena/Artemis, so you should be able to tell if the trouble is with Perl/Tk itself or with the way Athena/Artemis use them. And, my advice if you're having trouble with something is always to install from source. Cheers, --Matt
