Hi Ann, If your fit is significantly altered by small changes in Rbkg or emin, that in itself is a warning that your background parameters are probably not appropriate. I always try to make sure the background I'm using gives fits that are stable to small changes in the background parameters; i.e. I look for a region of stability. --Scott Calvin Sarah Lawrence College
I am a little bit confused on what the Rbkg value should be when I do the background subtraction. I have read some previous posts which stated that Rbkg can be determined after the fit. However, I always think that the fit depends strongly on how the background being subtracted. How does the initial spline value affect the background subtraction? Should it be 1eV or 25 eV above the edge? I appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Ann
