Hi Bruce et al., I've encountered a bug in Athena, at least on my platform. I'm using a plain vanilla Athena 0.8.054 with ifeffit 1.2.10 under Mac OS 10.5.4. When I do a linear combination fit on chi(k) and one of the standards has data that does not extend to as high k as the group being fit (or maybe it's when the standards don't extend to equally high k), Athena does properly perform the fit as judged by numbers appearing in the "weight" windows, but when it tries to plot to Aquaterm only the data appears. Before it manages to plot the fit Athena hangs and has to be restarted. This is the case even when the k-range being fit is shorter than the k-range of the shortest standard. Fitting norm(E) does not give this behavior. The workaround for now is clear: truncate all my groups to be equal length (hmm...that should change the background a little, though). Since I'm at home today, I don't know if this is a Mac only problem or if it also occurs on other platforms. I've attached a simple file that demonstrates this behavior. Go to linear combination fitting with the first group highlighted, and click "fit this group" to get the crash. --Scott Calvin Sarah Lawrence College
