Two comments:

(1) The current maintainer of wxperl claims
    (http://www.nntp.perl.org/group/perl.wxperl.users/2012/12/msg8628.html)
that installation on the Mac should work out of the box since
version 0.9915 (the current version at
https://metacpan.org/module/Wx is 0.9917). I have not tried this
myself, but mailing list participant Lyle Gordan has informed my
privately that he was able to build wxperl and have it pass all
its unit tests on his Mac.

(2) I am, as Matt said, working on getting Demeter to use Larch. It's
a work in progress. About 1/2 of Athena's functionality works
with Larch. I have not yet started working on Artemis. It is
time consuming, but not difficult, work. I will make an
announcement when Athena fully supports Larch so that early
adopters can help be suss out the bugs.
