FEFF6L calculates the EXAFS, that is chi(E).  This is what you obtain from 
your data when you subtract the background and the edge step.  You have to 
process your data to compare.  mu(E) is the edge jump plus chi(E).

You can do this processing with athena.  If you need to compute features 
in the pre-edge and in the very near edge (white lines, etc.), you have to 
use FEFF8.
