Nelson,

Carlo had the right answer to this problem.  I am sorry that the
situation is not better.  There are some limitations to perl/Tk, the
graphics toolkit I use for Athena and Artemis.  Rather than fixing
these problems, I am using my time to rewrite A&A using the more
modern wxwindows toolkit.  That doesn't help you in the short term, of
course.  Fortunately, Carlo's usggestion should get you over the
immediate hurdle.
