Kubuntu is debian-based and, I think, can use any debian repository.  So I 
think you should be able to use Carlo's debian repository to install the 
software.  Just point kynoptic at the repositories mentioned here:

   http://cars9.uchicago.edu/~ravel/software/downloads.html#debian
