Jeff Terry at IIT (terryj@iit.edu) has tested feff8.1 on Mac OS X and found
that a compiler bug is responsible for the problem with the feff8.10
compile. He used f2c and Guy Jennings' patch to get a working executable.
He sent us a copy in case anyone needs it. We haven't gotten OS X on our
G4 ... yet, being aprehensive about the plethora of bugs in early releases.

John,
I used f2c and a little bit of code written by Guy Jennings at ANL first
on 8.0 and then on 8.1.
Guy Jennings' code is a patch for an Apple compiler bug.
Although, this is now not necessary, as g77 for os x is now available.
I have not tried to recompile with g77 yet as I am in the middle of a
XANES calculation and don't want to tax the computer too much but it is
a dual processor machine so email isn't too bad.
The results that I tested with matched SGI calculations with 8.0 on the
earlier compile of 8.0.
