If you'd like to add X-ray microscopy to your research or gain access
to SEES supported X-ray microscopes, now is a great time to begin.
SEES has a new Approved Program at the Advanced Light Source (ALS)
called SYSTER*. You can learn about the instruments with scanning
transmission X-ray microscopy (STXM), spectromicroscopy, and

You are welcome to email me (toner@umn.edu) and encouraged (always) to
email your beamline scientists to discuss your research needs and
proposal ideas for Earth and environmental applications.

The general user proposal due dates for the ALS in 2024 are March 6th
and September 4th (https://urldefense.us/v3/__https://als.lbl.gov/apply-for-beamtime/__;!!G_uCfscf7eWS!aHFNauXxeivYDL4s5FOfdnzPGAGnrM67juWzf9ZpTPiJ6BMDFLhpNGedct6k4pJYtIlWMdYxiZwzo9k3ta7GIEnxAQn_d3XVdX18$). When you
submit your proposal, please select the 'SYSTER' Approved Program in
the general user webform under the Details tab. Note that you'll also
see the other SEES resources at the ALS listed there!
