Dear Bob,
Thank you for sending us the news. I’m very sorry to hear Yuriy Litvin passed away.
Yuriy was very friendly, and I enjoyed to discuss with him on some topics on mantle mineralogy at several international conferences. In 2003, he came to my lab in Tokyo with his young colleague, Andrey Bobrov, to discuss our collaboration. Later, Andrey stayed in my lab for six months to conduct multi-anvil experiments on Na-bearing majorite garnet, and our joint work was published in GCA, 2008.
May his soul rest in peace.
Best regards,
Masaki Akaogi
