In this ERC-funded project we will measure the density of silicate glasses at high pressure in a diamond anvil cell using all-optical techniques. We are looking now for a PhD student to extend the work on this project by adding iron to the silicate system. The PhD thesis will be submitted at the University of Potsdam.

The ideal candidate should have a Master degree in Geosciences or related disciplines, experience with diamond anvil cells, optical spectroscopy, and a strong interest in experimental work.

Application deadline is 11th November, 2024. 

Start date: 1st January, 2024.
