Issue with E0 value stuck in Larix

Dear all, I am encountering an issue with setting the E0 value for XANES spectra in the Larix GUI. I have experience analyzing XANES with Athena, but I'm brand new to Larix/Larch. I ran the install and everything seems to be working as expected (I'm able to load XANES data and plot it), but for a few of my recent data files set the E0 value wrong. The issue is that the E0 value seems to be stuck to the initial value that the software auto-finds. In the "XAS Normalization" tab, if I uncheck "auto" and type in a value for E0, the normalization settings on the plot don't change to what I type in. The new E0 value stays typed in the box when I click away or press enter, but never registers on the plot or in the normalized data. If I try to use the "pin" feature, it will set a new value in the text box, but the circle doesn't update on the plot and the normalization ranges don't change. It's odd because other normalization settings work - changing the pre-edge and norm energy ranges seem to update the normalized u(E) plot correctly (at least sometimes). Any tips? Is there a setting or step I'm missing, or a version issue? If it helps, I'm running MacOS Sequoia with Larch 2026.2.2. Thanks so much! Celeste Melamed Assistant Professor, University of Oregon

Dear IFEFFIT Community, I am writing to let the community know that I am actively looking for a new research position in X-ray absorption spectroscopy, synchrotron science, high temperature materials, nuclear materials, molten-materials (molten metal, molten salt), and energy materials research. I am currently a Research Staff at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), New York and a member of the Molten Salts in Extreme Environments Energy Frontier Research Center *(MSEE-EFRC)* team. In view of the evolving funding situation affecting my current research program, I am exploring opportunities where I can continue and expand my research in advanced characterization of nuclear and energy materials. My current work focuses on in-situ and operando *XAS, XRD, and SAXS* studies of molten salts and materials under extreme environments. I investigate actinide and metal-ion speciation, radiation-induced changes, nanoparticle formation and stability, corrosion, structural evolution, and materials degradation at elevated temperatures and under irradiation. I also have experience developing high-temperature experimental platforms, working with glovebox and inert-atmosphere systems, performing theoretical XAS analysis, supporting synchrotron experiments, writing proposals, and mentoring students. My broader research interest is in understanding how energy materials respond to combinations of temperature, radiation, chemical reactivity, and corrosive environments. I am especially interested in applying advanced operando synchrotron and multimodal characterization methods to study degradation mechanisms in reactor materials, advanced alloys, nuclear fuels, corrosion-resistant materials, and high-temperature energy storage systems. I am open to scientist, beamline scientist, research staff, research faculty, assistant professor, and research professor positions. I am primarily seeking opportunities for both permanent appointments and fixed-term positions of approximately three to five years. SCC-2026: A short course at BNL on operando methods for catalysis

Hello, Please forward this to your group members and colleagues who may be interested in joining us for this short course that we will offer on Nov. 18-20 at BNL. Dated back to the inception of Synchrotron Catalysis Consortium (SCC) in 2005, our annual short courses focused predominantly on topics related to XAFS and its applications to catalysis and electrocatalysis research. For the SCC-2026 course, the emphasis will be on the methodologies for correlative use of the in situ/operando characterization techniques, such as X-ray absorption, photoelectron and infrared spectroscopies as well as electron microscopy, for catalysis and electrocatalysis research. The lectures, taught by the PIs of the SCC and their partners from NSLS-II beamlines, CFN and Chemistry division at BNL, will focus on specific research problems that can be solved by different combined methods. As in the past, a key component of the course will be a hands-on session on Friday, Nov. 20, in which users will work on solving problems that will be provided by instructors.
